50 years! 50! Mom and Dad together...for 50 years!
Guess we should celebrate this momentous occasion, huh?
How 'bout we just throw a candle on one of those infamous 'cakewrecks' and call it a day?!
....haha... no way!
There should be food (and cake), family (and cake), and fun (and cake) - and hey, let's throw in a Vow Renewal Ceremony led by the same priest who renewed your vows 25 years ago....
Sounds great! (but will there be cake?)
After much planning, the glorious event finally took place - and boy, was it grand...
Since it was just the fam, we held the renewal in the chapel.
Small and quaint, with fabulous acoustics - Mom 'whispered' for a Band-Aid at the very start of the ceremony (she managed to prick her finger on her corsage pin) and I pretty sure people in the next town ran to their medicine cabinets!
*Don't worry Mom, I won't mention anything about the slip-up during the 'corsage incident' - no one could've heard that...
The ceremony was sweet and endearing... exactly as it was in 1959 and 1984, I'm sure... and yes, sentimentality got the best of me and I wept - only a teensy bit though...But really, seeing this - who wouldn't?
After the ceremony, we made our way over to The Milepost Tavern to celebrate Mom and Dad's Everlasting Love with family, fun, and lots of laughs...
Aren't they sweet?
The food was great, and the table decor was super romantic - candles, flowers, photo albums, and chocolates...
And although nothing could top being together as a family for such a special occasion, one thing might come pretty close -
Yes, it was delicious - then, and the next morning for breakfast, and even the following two days after that when I got to go home with leftovers!
Yes, I love cake...
But really, not as much as Mom and Dad - living proof that true love really does exist.
